How Does MEF Help My School?
You know Signal Mountain public schools are great. But do you know why? Along with fantastic educators and engaged parents, we also are blessed with additional resources provided by community donations to the Mountain Education Foundation (MEF). MEF is a non-profit public education foundation dedicated to serving students in Kindergarten through 12th grade at Nolan, Thrasher, and Signal Mountain Middle/High School. MEF engages and unites the community to mobilize resources and support for strategic investment in educational excellence at Signal Mountain public schools. In essence, MEF was created to support our schools and to reduce fundraising burdens on our principals, teachers, students, and PTA/PTSAs.
Since it was first created in 1991, MEF has invested millions of dollars in our schools, and the community has come to rely on MEF in its aim of educational excellence beyond what public funding provides. To that end, MEF currently pays the salaries for 12 staff positions at Nolan, Thrasher, and Signal Mountain Middle/High Schools. The staff positions funded by MEF at Nolan are:
- Caroline Freeman (Reading Interventionist)
- Kellie Robison (Technology Teacher)
- Jennifer Cisto (STEM Teacher)
- Ricky McEvoy (Technology Support)
- Jonatan Solares (Spanish Teacher)
- Cafeteria Monitor
Additionally, donations fund professional development, art supplies, STEM materials including robotics, classroom enrichment, technology, teacher appreciation, technology support for teachers and more.
Community donations are what make all this possible. Please consider setting up a recurring monthly gift to MEF to support our school. You can also volunteer and participate in the fundraising events during the year. To donate, volunteer, and learn more, visit the MEF website.
Thank you for supporting our school!
