Fourth Grade: A Year of Collaboration & Ownership!
The fourth graders at Nolan are encouraged to think beyond basic application and develop a deeper understanding of reading, writing, and math concepts. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning through exposure to a rigorous curriculum that works to integrate science and social studies standards. Collaborative work, along with the use of Chrome Books, and dynamic instruction lead students to actively engage throughout the year. Students develop a sense of compassion as they interact with others and recognize the need for collaboration in accomplishing goals. Our goal is for students to increase their confidence and develop a sense of independence. Highlights of Fourth Grade include switching classes and having content area specialist teachers, Colonial days prior to Thanksgiving, field trips to the TN Aquarium and Booth Museum, Mushroom Rock hike, and hosting enrichment programs: Nature Center and Professor Gig-a-watt.
