Fifth Grade

Fifth Grade: A Year of Leadership & Excellence!

At Nolan, our fifth graders are becoming the leaders of tomorrow. We offer several opportunities for them to excel in this area: leading as Kindness Ambassador, contributing as Student Council members, presenting at school-wide assemblies, producing the morning announcements, raising the flag, serving as safety patrol officers, and being a part of the Go-Kart, Handbells, Quiz Bowls, Drama Club, Perennial Math, and Science Olympiad Teams.

To help students meet the challenges ahead, we implement a meaningful standards-based plan of study through a rigorous curriculum and supplemental materials. We emphasize a solid writing structure, integrating social studies and science topics. Reading skills and math concepts are sharpened to provide a strong foundation in preparing our knights for middle school. In the last year of elementary school, we focus on organization and study skills, leadership skills, critical thinking skills, independence and self-advocacy skills, collaboration skills, and time management.

Our goal is to produce confident leaders and learners with excellent work ethics while making long-lasting memories along the way. Highlights of the year: Signal Mountain Homecoming Parade 5th Grade Float, Special Field Day, Valentine’s Day Hoe Down, Middle School Tour Day, Track Meet Day, and an end-of-the-year field trip!
