Kindergarten Information 
The big “K” year is right around the corner. This year’s Kindergarten Preview and Registration Events will be provided virtually for the safety of all our students. You will get a peek at educational life in our Signal Mountain Schools, meet faculty and staff, and have an opportunity to ask questions.

Important Dates

• Today - What can you do now to make the Kindergarten transition as easy as possible? Check out the Kindergarten Readiness Checklist and a letter from the Kindergarten teachers here. 
• Today - Let us know you've got a Kindergartner coming to us by filling in this form. At the end of the form, you will receive a Zoom link for a Live Q & A.
• March 23rd - New To Nolan Preview Video is available right here.
• March 25th - 6:00 pm Join us for a live Q&A Zoom. Complete the Kindergarten Bio Form for info on how to join.
• April 12-16 - Kindergarten Online Registration. Click here to register.
• April 14 - Front Office will be open to accept K registration documents if uploading is not a possibility.
• April 20-22 and April 27-29 - Kindergarten Screenings will be scheduled. Sign up information was given out during the Q&A Zoom or you can sign up here after the Zoom. Your student must be registered through Hamilton County Online Registration to attend this appointment. 

Introductory Kindergarten Info

• Fall Registration on Nolan's campus is August 6th.
• Hamilton County School calendar can be found here.
• The Hamilton County Schools' website is well-designed and always has good information.
• Phase-In means that incoming Kindergartners attend only 2 days the first week of school. You’ll get Phase-In dates after screenings, and we’ll work with you regarding those dates as necessary.
• While we have the very best teachers, we need our parents to be fully involved in order to provide the premium educational experience. When we reach out to you, please say “Yes!”
• We depend heavily on our wonderful PTA and the Mountain Education Foundation!

To complete registration, you will need a few documents for uploading:
Required Documents to Enroll

• Two (2) Proofs of Residency
  • Proof of residency is a current (within the last 30-60 days) utility bill - electric, gas, water - with the parent's name and address printed on it.
  • If parents have not been living at the residence long enough to have a utility bill, a contract or lease on a house or apartment will be accepted.
  • Agency, government or court documentation will also be accepted.
• Tennessee School Immunization Certificate
  • If a student is entering Hamilton County Schools for the first time, the physical exam must have been completed in the last 12 months.
  • Immunizations must be up to date.
• Certified Copy of Child's Birth Certificate
• Photo ID of the parent or legal custodian of the child

New Student Registration:

You will need to have the following items to complete the process:

• Certified Birth Certificate (required for online registration)

• Two Proofs of Residency in the Nolan zone (required for online registration)

• Tennessee Immunization and Physical Form (required prior to the first day of school to complete registration)

As noted, please be especially mindful of the requirement of having your two proofs of residency within the Nolan zone, as well as your student’s birth certificate. With the state age requirement that students entering Kindergarten must be five (5) years of age on or before August 15, our teachers and staff will be required to closely check all student birth certificates. Also, please note that the district has communicated that no exceptions to this requirement will be allowed.

 Proofs of Residency

Hamilton County Schools requires all families to submit two proofs of residency each year before the registration process can be completed.  These documents must be in the name of the custodial parent and have an address listed in the Nolan zone. We will review all residency  documentation before creating class rosters. We will not be able to include a child on a class roster until residency is verified and the pre-registration process is completed.
