First Grade: A Year of Imagination & Creativity!
Nolan first graders are in store for a year of imagination, creativity, and enthusiastic learning! Students are given numerous opportunities daily to read, illustrate, and express themselves in writing. It is magical to watch the boost to the students’ confidence as they take pride becoming expressive readers and writers. As our knights work together, they grow in collaboration and communication skills. Students learn strategies to develop mathematical reasoning and are encouraged to build on each other’s ideas. In the MEF-funded STEM lab, students engage in hands-on problem-solving as they work together to research, brainstorm, plan, construct, and test their ideas. Weekly enrichment opportunities include participating in the MEF funded visual arts class, MEF funded technology class, music, PE, and library with makerspaces. Highlights of the year: 100th day of School, Dr. Seuss Day, Field trips, Creative Discovery Museum Presentation, Colonial Days, and a visit by the TN Department of Environment & Conservation!
