Dr. Seuss quote

The Nolan Elementary Library is an engaging environment where children can discover their interests through books, media, and hands-on experiences. This is a space where creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking intersect. The library supports all students and staff, and adheres to Tennessee State Standards as well as the AASL National Standards for libraries.

Check-Out Limits:

All students are encouraged to check out a variety of books during their weekly visits to the library. Kindergarten and First Grade students can choose two books each week. Picture Books, Nonfiction Early Readers, and Easy Chapter Books are available in the early elementary section of the library.

Second through Fifth Graders are able to check out 3 books at a time from any section in the library. The librarian is always available to help recommend appropriate sections, quality nonfiction for research, and exciting titles for pleasure reading.

The students demonstrate autonomy and independence by checking out the books themselves on the library database.

All students are able to have up to 4 books on their library account at one time. The database will not permit more than 4 books on a student account.

Parents will receive an automated email for books that are overdue on student accounts throughout the school year. Teachers receive a weekly report of student book selections.

Lost book fines are not collected until the end of the year, in the event of a recovery.

For more information on check-out limits, please contact your child's teacher or Mrs. Dowd.
