Strong Start!

On behalf of the staff at Nolan, we want to thank you for an amazing start to our year! Our hearts are full every day! We see happy children engaged in learning with teachers who care deeply about their growth and well-being. This is a dynamic school with a staff that is unparalleled in their commitment to bring the best to your children every day!

Book Buddy Volunteer Training:

If you would like to give one hour per week to make a huge impact at Nolan in K-2 with literacy, please join us. Next Training Days: Thursday, September 6th, 9:00-9:25 am & Friday, September 7th, 9-9:25 am. Grandparents and Grand friends are needed!

Coupon Book Sale Kick Off this Friday, Sept 7:

Be thinking now who you can ask to buy coupon books. We have 3500 books to sell and can’t sell them without YOU! Nolan sends one book home with every student with an order form. We ask that you purchase that book or return it so we can sell it. There are many Hamilton County incentives for coupon book sales that will be revealed on Friday. Nolan Incentives= Sell 1 book to wear PJs on Sept 28th. Sell 10 books per student or 15 books per family to receive a pass to the inflatable day!

Open House:

Monday, Sept 10th- K-2nd and Tuesday, Sept 11th -3rd-5th : We invite you to drop in 6-7 PM and tour your child’s classroom with your child. Extended family members are welcome.

First Character Assembly: 

Wednesday, September 12th at 9:15 in Gym, Character Trait: Respect

Nolan Sportswear:

Last day to order is Friday, September 14th. Order Forms were sent home. Extra order forms are outside the office.

Progress Reports:

Your child’s first progress report will be going home Friday, September 14th. This is a great time to review your child's progress with them and set goals together. Please sign anywhere on the progress report and return it to school. Thank you.

Picture Day:

Friday, September 21st is Picture Day. Your child will be bringing home picture information soon.

MEF Celebration for Education:

Please buy your ticket(s) at www.meftoday.org for Saturday, September 29th at Stratton Hall. Your support is needed, and we want to thank you for supporting this foundation that provides amazing opportunities at Nolan. See you there!

September Box Top Drive:

Please clip Box Tops and send them in. The highest classroom per grade wins a prize!

PTA Membership:

We encourage every family to join PTA for $10. Membership applications are coming home this week.

Safety @ Morning Car Drop Off:

We unload 7-8 cars at a time. Pull all the way forward before you stop to let your child out. Put your car in park. Please be mindful to make sure your child and the safety patrol member are on the curb before you drive away. Cell phone usage is against the law within a school zone.

Voluntary Nolan Supply Fees:

We have only received 60% of the anticipated voluntary $65 Nolan supply fee. These funds are being used by your child’s teacher to bring FUN into the classroom through supplies for experiments, games, technology, art, books, as well as to support the general administrative cost of take home folders, copiers, laminating, enrichment programs, etc.  Your contributions make a huge impact on the learning that takes place. If you are able to make a contribution, please do. Thank you for your partnership.

 

Substitutes:

One of the most helpful ways to serve our school is to become a substitute. Please complete an online application at hcde.org and contact Mrs. Alyssa Teal in the front office to let her know you applied 423-886-0898. Thank you.

Library News:

Read 20 Competition: All Nolan Knights were asked to take the Read 20 Challenge where they commit to read for 20 minutes nightly.

Birthday Books: You may purchase a book for the Nolan library in honor of your child for his/her birthday.  http://www.btsb.com/sosl/nolanelementaryschool

Library Helpers: 1500 books need re-shelving every week and volunteers are needed. Contact [email protected] to volunteer. Idea: Park in the carline and while you wait, come in to help in the library.
