Online Kindergarten and New Student Registration:

Go to:

You will need to have the following items to complete the process:

  • Certified Birth Certificate (required for online registration)

  • Two Proofs of Residency in the Nolan zone (required for online registration)

  • Tennessee Immunization and Physical Form (required prior to the first day of school to complete registration)

As noted, please be especially mindful of the requirement of having your two proofs of residency within the Nolan zone, as well as your student’s birth certificate. With the state age requirement that students entering Kindergarten must be five (5) years of age on or before August 15, our teachers and staff will be required to closely check all student birth certificates. Also, please note that the district has communicated that no exceptions to this requirement will be allowed.

 Proofs of Residency

Hamilton County Schools requires all families to submit two proofs of residency each year before the registration process can be completed.  These documents must be in the name of the custodial parent and have an address listed in the Nolan zone. We will review all residency  documentation before creating class rosters. We will not be able to include a child on a class roster until residency is verified and the pre-registration process is completed.

  • Proof of residency is a current (within the last 60 days) utility bill - electric, gas, water - with the parent's name and address printed on it.

  • If parents have not been living at the residence long enough to have a utility bill, a contract or lease on a house or apartment will be accepted.

  • Agency, government or court documentation will also be accepted.

  • Out of zone inquiries and appeals may be made by contacting Office of Equity

School Supply Boxes (Order before May 15, 2020)

Each year, PTA organizes a modest fundraiser to assist parents with ordering school supplies. You may order school supplies through May 15, 2020 and your child's supplies will be delivered to their classroom. This saves parents from having to shop for school supplies at the end of the summer when they are in high demand and assures you that your child will have everything they need.  Kindergarten supply kits are $98.76. Order online at Account 12389. For questions:  Ramsey Morrison, PTA Supply Box Chair

Plan to attend the Registration Fair on August 7, 8:30-10:00am

Online registration does not complete the full registration process. There will be additional information to complete at the Registration Fair and Meet the Teachers Event in August. On August 7, you will have an opportunity to join PTA, purchase Nolan spirit wear, purchase a student directory, order a yearbook, sign up for before and after school care (SACC), sign up for bus transportation, pay fees, learn about volunteer opportunities and have an opportunity to partner with MEF.

Kindergarten Screening

We hope you and your families are doing well. Several questions have come through about the Kindergarten Screening originally scheduled in May. Your health and safety are most important to us, and we feel it is best to postpone the screening to the end of July and beginning of August. The new dates will be Friday, July 31, Monday, August 3, Tuesday, August 4 and Wednesday, August 5.  These screenings will be held at Nolan in the kindergarten classrooms and should only take about 30 minutes. Please email Mrs. Kelley ( to gain access to the sign up.

Count Down to Kindergarten

Countdown to Kindergarten gives parents and caregivers of young children information and resources needed for their child to be better prepared to start school at no cost. kindergarten-1. In preparation for kindergarten, we encourage your child to practice with letter and number recognition. Your child’s ability to identify upper and lower case letters (out of order) allows them to hit the ground running with learning to read in kindergarten.

Planning Ahead

  • PTA hosted Kindergarten Playdate is planned for Saturday, August 8th, 9-10:30 on Nolan’s K-2 playground. Rain plan is inside at the gym. Questions:Heidi Griswold, PTA President

  • Kindergarten Phase-In Days are planned for August 12, 13, 17, and 18. Your child will come to school for two phase-in days on either August 12 & 17 OR August 13 & 18. This allows us to lower the teacher to pupil ratio while we are getting to know your child. You will select phase-in dates at your screening appointment. We are happy to accommodate parents with their work schedules.

  • Parents will be notified of their child’s teacher on August 14th.

  • The first full day of Kindergarten is August 19th.
