Spanish Club

The Spanish Immersion Program is offered by Genimar Holland and Ledys Chemin, both native Spanish speakers. It is a year-long program and costs $330.

Good News Club
Mondays 3:45-4:45

Grades K-5

This community sponsored Child Evangelism Association club allows students to sing, play games, and learn kindness in a small faith based group. Pam Brock leads this group.


Chess Club
Mondays after school

Grades 2-5 (max 30 students)

All students welcome

Students may be beginners or have experience. They play chess matches against each other and are paired based on ability level. Students prepare for regional competitions.

Special Olympics
Grades 2-5
 (Ages 8 and up)

Track and Field events for students with disabilities. Students may register with their Case Manager.

Girls on the Run
Grades 3-5 (max 15 students)

Race in Chattanooga Dec 8

Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:50-5:00

Students train for a 5k race while participating in lessons and activities that build self-worth, confidence, friendships, and encourage girls to be themselves. Cost $150

Drama Club

This club teaches the basics of stage work while preparing students to perform a musical in mid-March. Requires committed attendance at all rehearsals.

Knight Writers
Wednesdays 3:50-5:00

Grades 3-5 (max 12 students)


A love of literacy is a must! Participants create a story incorporating various genres and figurative language to develop characters and a text that is published through Shutterfly. Students learn the process of writing to publishing a book.

Cross Country and Fun Run
Grades 3-5

All students in 3-5 tryout (participate) in a 1 mile timed run during scheduled PE class. Qualifying students make the school team and represent Nolan @ a 1 day system wide run (top 7 boys/girls per grade level/3-5.)

Fun runs are sponsored by Chattanooga Track Club usually 1 day a week during the month of September. Parents are responsible for transportation to/from, off mtn., not affiliated with HCDE.

Nolan Cyber Knights robotics team participates in FirstLEGO League where students design and build a robot for competition that must accomplish certain missions. They also learn about Core Values like teamwork and coopetition as they prepare for area and state meets.

The STEM Club provides a space for students to design, build, and explore as they test out solutions to real world problems. Guest speakers in STEM fields will also be invited to the sessions.

Students prepare for 24 STEM related events held in competition style in May. Students learn collaboration as they work on events such as egg drop, aerodynamics, measurement, etc.


Instrumental Ensemble
Grade 5

Sept-Dec Mondays 8:00-8:45

Audition in August

New! This before-school ensemble is for students who show interest in and aptitude for instrumental music. Piano, violin, percussion, voice--We’ll prepare for a December show and spend time improvising.

Vocal Ensemble
Grade 5

January-May Mondays 8:00-8:45

Audition in December

This ensemble will focus specifically on choral music. Students will learn to sing in 2-3 vocal parts, and perform shows in April and May.


Student Council

The Nolan Student Council fosters leadership skills as students help plan fun service activities for our school and Signal Mtn. community.


Safety Patrol
Grade 5 

During recess

Students are selected by teachers each semester based on criteria. Students are responsible for helping others move through the hallways safely during arrival and dismissal.

Nolan Knightly News provides students the opportunity to develop their technical and creative writing skills by reporting on events and activities at Nolan.

The STEM Go-Kart team gives students the opportunity to assemble an electric go-kart that will compete against other elementary schools in races in Chattanooga and Huntsville, AL.


Recycling Club

Help Nolan do its part to save the earth!Members of this fifth grade club will aid our school by collecting and bagging recyclable paper throughout the building.This club provides a wonderful opportunity for our service-oriented students.
