Good Evening Nolan Families - We wanted to take a few moments to share some information about upcoming May events.

Teacher Appreciation Week is taking place throughout this week and we want to thank our PTA and all of our parents for all of the events planned throughout the week to show how thankful we all are for our amazing Nolan teachers and staff.

Our students in grades K-5 will have a Bright Star Enrichment activity on Thursday, May 3, and our Nolan STEAM Night will take place that evening beginning at 6:00 with some amazing activities planned for our students and families.

Our May Character Assembly will take place on Tuesday, May 8 beginning at 9:15, and several of our students will be competing in the Science Olympiad that will also take place that day at Chattanooga State.

The Nolan/Thrasher Annual Chess Tournament will take place that afternoon as well at Town Hall beginning at 4:00, and our morning bus riders will be participating in a safety drill led by HCDE on the morning of Wednesday, May 9.

Our Kindergarten students will have a field trip that day to the Nature Center, and our 4th grade students will have an enrichment activity with Southern Champion Tray on Friday, May 11.

Several of our students will be competing in the Hamilton County Track and Field Meet also on Friday, May 11 and the rain date for the Track Meet is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15.

Our 1st grade students will have a field trip to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum on Wednesday, May 16, and our 5th grade students will have a field trip to the Huntsville Space Center on this day as well.

Our 1st grade and 4th grade Field Day will take place on Thursday, May 17, and our 2nd and 5th grade Field Day will take place on Friday, May 18.

Our 4th grade students will have a field trip to Mushroom Rock also on Friday, May 18, and our 3rd grade Field Day will take place on Tuesday, May 22.

Our 5th grade Promotion Ceremony will take place on the evening of Tuesday, May 22 at SMMHS beginning at 6:00, and our Kindergarten Field Day will take place on Thursday, May 24.

Finally, the last day of school for students will also be on Thursday, May 24 with report cards being sent home that afternoon and any remaining report cards may be picked up by parents on the morning of Friday, May 25 from 8:30 to 10:30.*

In closing, we want to thank everyone for all of your support at the recent MEF Dash and Bash! Through the efforts of our community, MEF was able to raise over $50,000 in one evening to support our Signal Mountain Schools. As previously shared, we want to encourage everyone, if you have not done so already, to visit meftoday.org and become a monthly MEF donor. As we all know, it takes all of our combined efforts to continue to afford our students the amazing teachers, resources, and learning opportunities that are made possible by the Mountain Education Foundation.

As always, thank you for your support and all you do for our students, our school, and our community!

-Shane D. Harwood, Ed.D.
