Good Evening Nolan Families - We wanted to take a moment to share some information related to upcoming September events.

A reminder that there will be no school on Monday, September 4in observance of Labor Day.

Progress reports will go home with students on the afternoon of Friday, September 8, and our Kids First Coupon Book Sale will begin on this day as well.

For our coupon book sale, information will be coming home that afternoon along with 1 coupon book for students to begin their selling. Students will take orders for coupon books and then bring the money in each day to receive the purchased coupon books to take home and deliver. Prizes will be awarded based on the number of coupon books students are able to sell with $7 of each coupon book sold staying here at Nolan and earmarked for technology and STEM lab purchases. Participation is voluntary and greatly appreciated. Also, if for some reason your child is unable to participate, please be sure that the sample book is returned to school as we will have others who would like to purchase that book.

Our PTA Open House for grades K, 2, and 4 will take place on Monday, September 11 at 7:00 and our PTA Open House for grades 1, 3, and 5 will take place on Tuesday, September 12.

Our first PTA Box Tops Submission Week will begin on Monday, September 18 and continue through Friday, September 22.

We will have our first Character Assembly of the year on Tuesday, September 19 at 9:15, and fall pictures will be taken on Friday, September 22.

Finally, the Mountain Education Foundation's Celebration for Education will take place on Saturday, September 23 at McCoy Farm beginning at 7:00.  For those who are able to attend, we greatly appreciate your support of MEF and our schools and again encourage everyone to visit meftoday.org to learn more about making a donation to this wonderful support organization that we are so blessed to have.  In closing, we also want to remind everyone that our 2nd grade classes are sponsoring a drive for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.  A letter was sent home this afternoon outlining items that can be brought in by grade level in an effort to help those in need.  We hope you will consider contributing and we want to thank our 2nd grade students and teachers for organizing this effort.

Thanks, and enjoy your weekend!

-Dr. Harwood
